Central Malta is the belt of towns and villages between the harbour conurbation and the west coast. Mosta (with its Rotunda), Naxxar, Attard, Balzan and Lija, Birkirkara, Rabat and the old capital Mdina are here. The area combines village cores with newer residential zones and is popular with families.
