How take-home pay works

Income tax is progressive (single rates for year of assessment 2026: 0% to €12,000, 15% to €16,000, 25% to €60,000, 35% above), and employees pay 10% social security on basic pay up to a ceiling; employers deduct both through the Final Settlement System each month. A statutory bonus and weekly allowance are paid in instalments through the year.

Sector pay (editorial)

Gaming, financial services, IT and senior healthcare roles pay the highest salaries; hospitality, retail and care roles are often at or near the minimum wage; public-sector pay follows collective agreements. Employers frequently offer health insurance, relocation help and performance bonuses to attract international staff.

Comparing offers

Compare net pay using the tax bands, factor in housing (the largest cost, see cost of living) and check whether the employer sponsors a single permit if you are a non-EU citizen.
