Birgu (Vittoriosa), Senglea (Isla) and Cospicua (Bormla) were the Knights' first home in Malta and the scene of the Great Siege of 1565. Today the Birgu waterfront and marina, Fort St Angelo, the Inquisitor's Palace and the Malta Maritime Museum draw visitors, while restored townhouses and new apartments at the Cospicua docks have brought residents back. The Valletta ferry crosses the harbour in minutes.
