Electricity and water

Electricity (Enemalta) and water (Water Services Corporation) are billed together by ARMS Ltd on a tiered residential tariff; registering the account in your name as a resident secures the lower residential rate and eco-reduction bands. Bills are issued every two months on actual or estimated readings; smart meters and online accounts allow self-readings. Air-conditioning in summer and electric heating in winter drive consumption. Supply is 230 V, 50 Hz with UK-style three-pin sockets.

Gas

Many homes cook with LPG cylinders delivered by truck or collected from distributors at a regulated price; some newer blocks have piped gas.

Waste and recycling

Local councils collect household waste on a schedule (organic, recyclable and mixed bags on different days); bring-in sites and civic amenity sites take bulky items. Deposit-return applies to beverage containers.

Internet and mobile

GO, Melita and Epic provide fibre or cable broadband and mobile services; installation is usually within days. See Digital life.

Typical costs

Electricity and water for a two-person household typically run €60–120 a month, broadband €25–45 and mobile plans €10–30 (editorial ranges, October 2026). See the cost of living guide.

Setting up

Bring your lease or deed, ID or residence card and the previous bill to transfer the ARMS account; landlords sometimes keep the account in their name and recharge the tenant at the residential rate, which is allowed if the tenant is registered on the account.
